Which WhatsApp platforms do Indian websites use? Vendor fingerprints on 113,102 .in homepages
We read the HTML of every .in homepage in Common Crawl's August 2026 crawl, and of every .com homepage carrying an Indian WhatsApp number, for the domains and widget code of 137 WhatsApp platforms and chatbot vendors. Here is who shows up, how often, in which industries, and why the totals are far smaller than any market-share claim you have read.
The short version
- On 113,102 .in homepages in Common Crawl's August 2026 crawl, Interakt's domain appears on 118, Engati's on 108, AiSensy's widget on 94, Salesforce's on 79 and Wati's on 70. No other vendor passes 50.
- Only 718 .in homepages (0.63%) carry any platform fingerprint, against 23,860 that link WhatsApp with no platform. A provider's inbox running behind a plain wa.me link leaves no trace, so platform use is undercounted.
- Adding the 43,025 .com homepages with an Indian WhatsApp number brings the platform count to 1,100 of 67,084. Interakt leads the combined ranking at 179 homepages, AiSensy about 160, Salesforce 124, Engati 114 and Wati 104.
- 32 of the 119 companies in our copy of Meta's partner directory show up on at least one .in homepage; 87 show up on none.
- Salesforce, Engati, Twilio and HubSpot sell more than WhatsApp, so their fingerprints prove the vendor's code is on the page, not that the business messages on WhatsApp through them.
We make Conecxt, one of the WhatsApp platforms in this category.
Ask five people which WhatsApp platform Indian businesses use most and you get five brand names and no number. So we counted. Common Crawl’s August 2026 crawl holds 113,102 .in homepages, one per registrable domain. We read the HTML of each for the domains and widget code of 137 WhatsApp platforms and chatbot vendors. Interakt’s domain is on 118 of them, Engati’s on 108, AiSensy’s widget on 94, Salesforce’s on 79 and Wati’s on 70. Every vendor together: 718 homepages, 0.63% of the set.
Two sentences on method. We took every .in homepage in Common Crawl’s August 2026 crawl archive, fetched the archived HTML (we did not visit the live sites) and looked for three things: a WhatsApp click-to-chat link, the domain or widget code of a platform vendor, and a generic website chat widget. The full method, and every caveat, is in our study of WhatsApp on Indian websites; the ones that matter here are that we read homepages only, that a fingerprint undercounts platform use, that industry labels come from words in the page title, and that a .com site counts as Indian when the WhatsApp number on it starts with 91.
Which WhatsApp platforms appear on .in homepages?
Interakt, Engati, AiSensy, Salesforce and Wati are the only five vendors found on more than 50 .in homepages. The table is the clean count after removing parked pages and placeholder numbers; a page can carry more than one vendor, so the rows do not add up to 718.
| Vendor | .in homepages with its fingerprint | Share of 113,102 |
|---|---|---|
| Interakt | 118 | 0.104% |
| Engati | 108 | 0.095% |
| AiSensy | 94 by its widget marker; 31 by domain, overlapping | 0.083% by widget |
| Salesforce | 79 | 0.070% |
| Wati | 60 by domain; 10 by its Shopify app marker | 0.053%; 0.009% |
| Zoko | 48 | 0.042% |
| Gallabox | 38 | 0.034% |
| LimeChat | 24 | 0.021% |
| MSG91 | 22 | 0.019% |
| BIK | 17 | 0.015% |
| Verloop | 16 | 0.014% |
| Yellow.ai | 14 | 0.012% |
| SendPulse | 8 | 0.007% |
| Gupshup | 7 | 0.006% |
| Insider | 7 | 0.006% |
| Manychat | 6 | 0.005% |
| Twilio | 5 | 0.004% |
| respond.io | 5 | 0.004% |
| DoubleTick | 4 | 0.004% |
| Pinnacle Teleservices, Karix, Weni | 3 each | 0.003% |
| 360dialog, Alibaba Cloud, Callbell | 2 each | 0.002% |
One homepage each: Easy Social, Smart Link, ValueFirst, Botmaker, WANotifier, Tata Tele, SleekFlow, Conversocial, Kommo, Sobot, Wappbiz, Pancake, Infobip, CM.com, Edna and BusinessOnBot.
Our detector list had two parts: the 119 companies in our copy of Meta’s Business Partner directory, compiled in June 2026, and 15 WhatsApp tools common in India that were not in that copy, plus three widget markers. Of the 119 directory companies, 32 appear on at least one .in homepage. 87 appear on none.
By domain suffix the platform rate barely moves: 514 of 87,929 second-level .in homepages (0.58%), 81 of 15,815 co.in (0.51%), 11 of 1,960 edu.in (0.56%) and 7 of 2,856 ac.in (0.25%). The outliers are gov.in and nic.in, at 64 of 924 and 33 of 655. Those are chatbot and CRM vendors’ code on government portals, not WhatsApp inboxes, and nothing below leans on them.
And on .com sites with an Indian number?
Many Indian businesses run on a .com, so we also scanned 8,497,286 .com homepages worldwide and kept the 43,025 whose WhatsApp link carries a +91 number. Of those, 382 have a platform fingerprint (0.9%) and 42,643 do not.
| Vendor | Indian-numbered .com homepages with its fingerprint |
|---|---|
| Interakt | 61 |
| AiSensy | 61 by its widget marker; 6 by domain |
| Salesforce | 45 |
| Wati | 32 by domain; 2 by its Shopify app marker |
| Gallabox | 29 |
| LimeChat | 26 |
| Zoko | 24 |
| Yellow.ai | 16 |
| BIK | 15 |
| Verloop | 14 |
| MSG91 | 13 |
| respond.io, Engati, Gupshup | 6 each |
| Tata Tele | 5 |
| Manychat, Twilio | 4 each |
| DoubleTick, Kommo, Smart Link | 2 each |
One each: Ameyo, Edna, Sinch, Callbell, ChakraHQ, Pinnacle Teleservices, Infobip and SleekFlow.
The order shifts. Engati, second on .in, drops to 6 on Indian .com homepages. Gallabox, LimeChat and Zoko hold their places or climb. We don’t know why, and the scan can’t tell us; it only counts.
The combined ranking
Putting the two sets together gives 67,084 Indian homepages with a WhatsApp link (24,059 on .in, 43,025 on .com) and 1,100 with a platform fingerprint (718 plus 382). The sums below are ours; the components are in the two tables above.
| Vendor | .in | Indian .com | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interakt | 118 | 61 | 179 |
| AiSensy | 94 by widget | 61 by widget | 155 by widget marker; domain references (31 and 6) overlap, so about 160 |
| Salesforce | 79 | 45 | 124 |
| Engati | 108 | 6 | 114 |
| Wati | 70 (60 + 10) | 34 (32 + 2) | 104 |
| Zoko | 48 | 24 | 72 |
| Gallabox | 38 | 29 | 67 |
| LimeChat | 24 | 26 | 50 |
| MSG91 | 22 | 13 | 35 |
| BIK | 17 | 15 | 32 |
| Verloop | 16 | 14 | 30 |
| Yellow.ai | 14 | 16 | 30 |
| Gupshup | 7 | 6 | 13 |
| respond.io | 5 | 6 | 11 |
| Manychat | 6 | 4 | 10 |
| Twilio | 5 | 4 | 9 |
| DoubleTick | 4 | 2 | 6 |
| Tata Tele | 1 | 5 | 6 |
| 360dialog | 2 | 0 | 2 |
Other top-level domains (.co, .org, .net, .shop, .store) were not scanned, so a business on one of those is missing from both columns.
What a fingerprint is, and what it misses
A fingerprint is the vendor’s registrable domain, or a widget token the vendor’s script leaves behind, found in the homepage HTML. The patterns are anchored to the domain, never to a brand word, so a page about someone named Swati does not count as Wati. The three widget markers (AiSensy’s widget, Wati’s Shopify app, Gallabox’s widget) work differently: they are left by a script the vendor’s customer installs on purpose, which is why AiSensy’s widget count on .in (94) is three times its domain count (31). What the detector finds is reliable. What it misses is the bigger problem.
Most platform customers are invisible to it. A business that runs a provider’s shared inbox, campaigns and automation through the WhatsApp Business Platform, but puts a plain wa.me button on its site, leaves nothing for us to find. Only 199 .in homepages carry both a WhatsApp link and a platform fingerprint; the other 23,860 WhatsApp-linking homepages show no platform, and some unknown share of them are platform customers we cannot see. So every count here is a floor, and the 33 to 1 ratio of manual to platform-managed sites is an upper bound.
The second problem runs the other way. Several companies on Meta’s partner list sell many things, and their code on a homepage proves only that the business uses something of theirs. Salesforce’s 79 .in fingerprints are mostly CRM code. Engati’s 108 are mostly website chatbots, 82 of them on pages we could not classify by industry. Twilio’s and HubSpot’s code can be on a page for reasons that have nothing to do with WhatsApp. For those vendors the number means “runs that vendor’s code”, not “uses the WhatsApp API through it”. The Indian-born tools in the tables (Interakt, AiSensy, Wati, Zoko, Gallabox, LimeChat, MSG91, BIK, DoubleTick) are sold as WhatsApp tools, so their fingerprints are closer to a count of WhatsApp use, though still a floor.
Last, this is August 2026, homepages only, and one business can own several domains. Counts are of pages, not companies.
Which industries each vendor shows up in
We sorted the 26,505 .in homepages with any signal by words in their title, so “homepages whose title mentions e-commerce” is the honest label, not “e-commerce businesses”. With that caveat, the vendors cluster.
| Vendor | Where its .in fingerprints sit (homepages whose title mentions…) |
|---|---|
| Zoko | e-commerce 16, retail 6, beauty 3, travel 2 |
| LimeChat | e-commerce 6, beauty 3 |
| Interakt | e-commerce 15, education 12, beauty 7, retail 6, manufacturing 4, healthcare 4, real estate 4, restaurants 4 |
| AiSensy (widget) | education 12, IT services 6, e-commerce 6, healthcare 5, travel 4, events 4 |
| Wati | education 8, beauty 5 by domain and 4 by Shopify marker, IT services 4, travel 3, retail 3, e-commerce 3, healthcare 3 |
| Gallabox | education 10, travel 5, IT services 5 |
| Engati | unclassified 82, education 12, financial services 4 |
| Salesforce | real estate 13, IT services 12, education 7, manufacturing 6 |
| Verloop | real estate 4, IT services 3 |
| Yellow.ai | IT services 4, e-commerce 3, financial services 2 |
Two patterns are worth the reader’s time. Zoko and LimeChat are concentrated on online-store homepages: 16 of Zoko’s 48 and 6 of LimeChat’s 24 are on pages whose title says online store, shop, fashion or apparel. Salesforce and Verloop lean to real estate, where builders’ sites tend to carry CRM and lead-capture scripts.
The platform rate itself also moves by industry. Among signal pages whose title mentions e-commerce, 59 carry a platform and 749 link WhatsApp manually, a 7.3% platform rate. Beauty, spa and wellness pages are at 6.2%, financial services 4.7%, legal and professional 4.1%, education 3.2%. Manufacturing and exporter pages, the single largest classified group at 2,751 signal pages, are at 0.6%: 16 platform pages against 2,649 manual ones. NGO and trust pages are at 0.8%, and astrology and matrimony pages at 0.0%, none of 96.
”Market share” claims against the homepage evidence
Vendor websites and funding announcements quote customer counts in the tens of thousands. Homepages cannot confirm or deny them, because of the undercount above. What homepages can say is this: 718 of 113,102 .in homepages show any platform at all, and 1,100 of 67,084 Indian WhatsApp-linking homepages do, about one in 60. The platform-versus-platform contest that fills the comparison articles is a contest over that one website. The other 59 run WhatsApp by hand, on a phone, from a link.
Worldwide the picture is different again. On the 8.5 million .com homepages, Salesforce’s code is on 7,470, Twilio’s on 1,817 and Manychat’s on 1,368, and 90 of the 119 directory partners appear at least once. Wati is on 292 .com homepages globally and Interakt on 261, which puts both inside the top dozen worldwide.
So when Omkar Jadhav (an invented example) runs a nine-person packers-and-movers firm in Nagpur, with quotes going out from three staff phones, and asks us “which one does everyone use?”, the true answer is: almost nobody near you uses any of them yet, and the one you can see on a competitor’s website is a floor, not a verdict. The choice that moves his business is manual WhatsApp versus any platform. The choice between platforms comes after, and it is about seats, numbers, per-message charges and what happens when he leaves.
If you are choosing
This article is the count. The pricing side is in our existing comparisons, each read from the vendors’ own pages on a stated date: Wati vs AiSensy vs Interakt, Interakt, Gallabox and DoubleTick compared, nine WhatsApp marketing tools in India and the audit of eight provider pricing pages. The questions to put to any of them in writing are in how to choose a WhatsApp Business API provider. Terms such as BSP, fingerprint and customer service window are in the glossary.
One practical use of the tables: if a vendor tells you it has thousands of customers in your trade, ask it for three you can see. No vendor shows up on more than 16 homepages in any one classified trade among 113,102 .in sites, and the homepage evidence cannot settle the number either way, because most platform customers sit behind plain links or on contact pages we didn’t read. Three names you can message settle it in an afternoon.
What we will check next
The 33 to 1 figure is the one we expect to move. A second pass over the same 113,102 homepages, reading site builders, plugins and the pre-filled text in WhatsApp links, follows, and will show how the 23,860 manual sites were built. If you work at one of the vendors named here and believe a count misreads your code, write to us through the contact page with the pattern you’d expect us to find. We’ll re-run the detector and date the correction.
Common questions
Which WhatsApp Business API provider is most used in India?
No public count exists. Our scan of 113,102 .in homepages in Common Crawl's August 2026 crawl found Interakt's domain on 118 homepages, Engati's on 108, AiSensy's widget on 94, Salesforce's on 79 and Wati's on 70. Fingerprints undercount platform use, so these are floors for each vendor, not market shares.
How many Indian websites use a WhatsApp platform?
Our scan found a platform fingerprint on 718 of 113,102 .in homepages, 0.63%, and on 382 of the 43,025 .com homepages that link an Indian WhatsApp number. By comparison 23,860 .in homepages link WhatsApp with no platform at all, about 33 manual sites for every platform-managed one.
What is a WhatsApp platform fingerprint?
A fingerprint is a vendor's own domain or widget code found in the HTML of a homepage. It shows that the vendor's code is on the page. It cannot see a provider's inbox running behind a plain wa.me link, and for vendors that sell more than WhatsApp, such as Salesforce, it does not prove WhatsApp use.
What is the WhatsApp BSP market share in India?
Nobody publishes one, and homepage fingerprints cannot give one. Across 67,084 Indian homepages that link WhatsApp, 1,100 carry a platform fingerprint. Within that group Interakt appears on 179, AiSensy on about 160, Salesforce on 124, Engati on 114 and Wati on 104. Treat each figure as a floor for that vendor.
